About Us

Educated Arms offers Firearm Training/Education in the Greater Austin/Round Rock area. We have NRA certified instructors & courses, LTC/CHL classes, new gun owner courses, & more! We are also here for all of your firearm needs! From FFL transfers to new and used guns we've got you covered!

Educated Arms was created to help educate firearm owners of all ages, sex, and experience. Our goal is to provide an information rich and non biased environment where our students feel comfortable and safe. All of our instructors are certified through the NRA as Certified Firearm Instructors and the State of Texas as LTC Instructors.

We realize that firearms can be intimidating for new owners/users and our goal is to assist them in having a better understanding of how to safely handle a firearm and how to use it. We also instruct our students in basic firearm maintenance, proper firearm storage, home firearm safety, and several NRA certified firearm courses.

In addition to the new/basic firearm owner instruction we also offer Texas License to Carry courses and additional courses designed around a more seasoned firearm user. We are happy to announce that as of 2/1/19 we now have our SOT permit allowing us to deal and manufacture in Class III and NFA restricted items such as suppressors and SBR's. We have also recently launched our Law Enforcement Sales Division and are able to accomodate small and large departments as well as offer discounts on individual firearms to officers. We at Educated Arms are proud to say that we have stayed ahead of the curve when it comes to offering our clients the newest options available when it comes to both firearms and firearm training and with that we are proud to announce a partnership with another great organization to bring our clients the Texas License to Carry Course ONLINE!

As many of you know (and many may not know) Texas residents interested in obtaining a License to Carry can now take the required four hours of classroom training ONLINE. We are a state approved provider and our online handgun license course is approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). After you have completed the classroom portion of the course you will be able to schedule to take the range portion and proficiency testing with us! We would like to thank all of the parents and volunteers for their interest in making this an amazing event. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we will be delaying this course to sometime in September. Free Firearm Safety Class for Children

This Summer Educated Arms is once again partnering with local firearm instructors, law enforcement personnel, and numerous other individuals within the firearms community to bring FREE firearm safety courses for your child. Open Carry/CHL Changes

As most of you have heard (and some of you maybe not) beginning January 1st 2016 you will be able open carry your handgun in Texas with your Concealed Handgun License (moving forward referred to as your "License to Carry"). Now it is important to remember that with this new change there are a wide array of new rules and regulations to accompany this. A FEW of the biggest changes are listed here but it is important that you visit DPS's website for the full breakdown on the new rules and regulations or contact us via email at info@educatedarms.com so we can send you the complete breakdown. The biggest two things to remember are:

The 30.07 sign, this sign works just like the 30.06 sign in that it will prohibit you from OPEN CARRYING on the property where the sign is posted. The 30.06 sign will still be required to prevent you from CONCEALED CARRYING on the property and both signs will need to be present to restrict both.
It is also important to note that while open carrying you must only have your holster on your belt or in a shoulder holster (leg/thigh rigs are not allowed) and that it must be in an approved retention holster listed on DPS's site.

2015 Update!

For 2015 Educated Arms will be continuing with our many firearms courses as well as offering more private courses for individuals who are intimidated by a classroom setting. Teach A Teen To Shoot update

We have been working hard on the T.A.T.T.S. program (along with a few other youth orientated programs) over the past few months and look forward to unveiling the dates and full curriculum for T.A.T.T.S. in the next week or so! In the interim I hope this will hold you all over.

We are thrilled to be a part of this program and are planning on conducting two classes (we may branch out to four as additional students sign up), our first class will be a general firearm safety class with no live fire. In this course we will be demonstrating firearm safety and the basics of firearms. Students who attend this course will learn all about firearms and how to safely handle and identify key components of a firearm.

Our second class will be a live fire class and will be instructing students on how to properly fire various firearms in a controlled setting and build upon the lessons from the firearm safety course. A requirement for this class is that the student must have attended the previous days class on Firearm Safety or one of our other firearm safety courses.

Educated Arms is proud to announce that it has teamed up with GunRightsAttorneys.com and more than 60 other firearm training groups across the United States to bring you TATTS (Teach A Teen To Shoot). Teach A Teen To Shoot is designed to be an entire month of free or discounted firearms training to teens, it will take place the entire month of August and Educated Arms is thrilled to have this opportunity to help educate the youth in our community about firearm safety.
