The following contains both Educated Arms General Safety Policy and Liability Release. These documents must be signed by ALL students attending ANY of Educated Arms courses (we will provide hard copies to sign).




General Safety Rules:

 

1. Live ammunition is prohibited in the classroom at ALL times.

2. Student owned, personal firearms are prohibited in the classroom at ALL times.

3. The course instructor is in charge of class room safety issues while the class is in session.

4. The NRA Fundamental Rules for Safe Gun Handling must be followed at ALL times:

            a. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.

            b. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

            c. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.

5. All firearms must be VERIFIED to be unloaded each time they are handled.

6. When firearms are not in an approved storage container, they must be unloaded, action open, and muzzle pointed in a safe direction.

 

The Chief Instructor Shall:


1. Develop and promulgate all safety and security policies.

2. Inspect all equipment, including firearms, electrical equipment, and training aids, for serviceability and safe operation.

3. Inspect cooperating firing ranges for the presence of good safety practices before allowing students to use the range.

4. Ensure that all instructors have the appropriate NRA instructor certification for the firearms discipline being taught.

 

All Instructors Shall:


1. Maintain current NRA instructor certification for the firearms disciplines for which they are teaching.

2. Ensure that all NRA course safety guidelines and this safety policy are followed at ALL times.

3. Ensure that the NRA Fundamental Rules for Safe Gun Handling are consistently enforced at all times in the classroom and at the firing range:

4. While demonstrating actual firearms in class, verify that they are unloaded and have at least one other person verify that they are unloaded before performing the demonstration.

5. Ensure that all equipment in use is safe and in good condition.

6. Report all unsafe conditions to the Chief Instructor.

 

All Students Shall:


1. Abide by all NRA course safety guidelines and this safety policy at ALL times.

2. Follow the NRA Fundamental Rules for Safe Gun Handling at all times in the classroom and at the firing range.

3. Follow the directions of all course instructors.

4. Be aware of the surrounding area and report all unsafe conditions to the instructor in charge.
